So I spent my Fourth of July in beautiful Grand Lake Stream, pop. 132, way the heck out in Washington County. The town has some of the best swimming in the state, and we would have gone tubing down the stream had some local hooligans not chucked a picnic table into the water, making a large chunk of the stream unnavigable.

Anyway, after we were done splashing about, we took a stroll down to the town celebrations, which included a chicken barbecue, some local band, and this incredible contraption:

You know, those swing things that they have at the fair? Yeah, one of those. Screw Smokey's Greater Shows; we'll make our own rides! Apparently constructed from some kiddie lawn chairs, chains and a clothesline type thing. We didn't see anyone riding it the whole time we were there. But I must give props to whoever took the time to make it. Talk about DIY.
